What is IELTS?

It uses a nine-band scale to clearly identify levels of proficiency, from non-user (band score 1) through to expert (band score 9). Over 2.7 million candidates take the test each year to start their journeys in international education and employment.

The IELTS is accepted by more than 9,000 institutions / organizations in over 135 countries.

Paper or computer

  • You now have the choice of taking IELTS on paper or on computer in a number of locations.

  • The Listening, Reading and Writing sections of all IELTS tests are completed on the same day.
  • The Speaking test, however, can be completed up to a week before or after the other tests.

IELTS on Paper:

If you choose this option, the Listening, Reading and Writing sections will be paper-based and the Speaking test will be conducted face-to-face with a trained IELTS Examiner.

  • IELTS on Computer:

This is exactly the same test as paper-based IELTS, but instead of writing your answers on paper, you will type them on a computer.

  • If you select this option, you will take the Listening, Reading and Writing sections on a computer, but the Speaking test will still be face-to-face with a trained IELTS Examiner as this is the most effective way to assess your speaking skills.
