Is UKVI right for me?
Choose PTE Academic UKVI for study visas or work visas that require a four-skill language test (i.e., speaking, writing, listening & reading).
For study visas
You should choose PTE Academic UKVI if:
- You are applying for a Student route visa (formerly known as the Tier 4 General student visa) and you are planning to study below degree level (e.g., a Foundation or Pathways course or professional English course).
You wish to study at degree level or above at somewhere that is not a Higher Education Institution (HEI).
For work visas
You should choose PTE Academic UKVI if:
You are applying for the following Work visas:
- Skilled worker visa (formerly known as the Tier 2 General work visa)
- Start-up visa
- Innovator visa
- Minister of religion visa (Tier 2)
TEST FORMAT
Part 1: Speaking & Writing (77 – 93 minutes)
- Personal introduction
- Read aloud
- Repeat sentence
- Describe image
- Re-tell lecture
- Answer short question
- Summarize written text
- Essay (20 mins)
Part 2: Reading (32 – 41 minutes)
- Multiple choice, choose single answer
- Multiple choice, choose multiple answers
- Re-order paragraphs
- Reading: Fill in the blanks
- Reading & writing: Fill in the blanks
Part 3: Listening(45 – 57 minutes)
- Summarize spoken text
- Multiple choice, choose multiple answer
- Fill in the blanks
- Highlight correct summary
- Multiple choice, choose single answer
- Select missing word
- Highlight incorrect words
- Write from dictation
